The Supreme Court of Nepal issued a verdict on 2 Jan. 2014 related to the Ordinance on Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission. In the verdict, the SC had ordered the government to amend the Ordinance with provisions of, inter alia, two separate commissions (Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission on Enforced Disappearances), criminalization of serious human rights violations and reparation to the victims. The verdict was taken by the conflict victims and human rights community of Nepal as a milestone on the road towards transitional justice and peace. The DFHRI published the verdict with additional chapter highlighting the salient features of the verdict.
